About The Department

Computer Engineering department was established in the year 1987. We offer three-year full time diploma programme in Computer Engineering with an intake of 60 students. In addition, the department admits 20% lateral entry students.
Initially the department was running in the main block of the college till 2003. In 2004 it was shifted to the first floor of the new block. A Lab which is equipped with high end computer systems was set up. Later in 2019 another Computer Lab II was established in the second floor of the new block. This lab is also equipped with high end systems. Both the labs facilitate students from other departments .
The labs are equipped with the desktops of the latest configuration and a dedicated internet connection.

The students are encouraged to use the net facilities for their class purpose and project works. The Computer center is being utilized for the online Govt Examinations like TNPSC,GroupB,Group C and also for all the online placements of Polytechnics of this zone.
Other than the above the center also facilitates Govt works like Data entry operations, trainings organized by the District Collectorate.
The teaching and non- teaching staff of the department are highly committed, sincere and supportive to the students. They guide the students in their project work and encourage them to take part in the various competitions like Smart India Hackathon, Paper presentations, Technical Quiz competition etc.
The Alumnii of the department of Computer Engineering are in top software companies in India and abroad and are a great support to the department.

The department collaborates with various IT industries to provide internships and placements to the students and also organizes seminars to encourage the technical abilities and entrepreneurship capabilities of the students. The teaching and non teaching staffs of the department are highly knowledgeable, committed and their teamwork plays a major role in the department's upliftment.
