Mechanical Engineering Department was established in the year 1959 with a sanctioned strength of 30 students. Now, the student strength is 72.
The infrastructure facilities in the department facilitate effective teaching learning process. Modern machineries available in laboratories and workshops include CNC lathe, CNC Milling machine, Fifteen user licenced CNC simulation software, Shaping machine, Planning machine, Cylindrical,Tool and cutter grinder,Conventional lathe,Welding machines(both arc and gas),Spot welding, Diesel fired furnace,Modern Petrol and Diesel engines,Metallurgical Microscope etc.More importance is given to impart practical knowledge to students by utilising all available resources to the maximum possible extent.
Apart from the above,Seminars, State level inter polytechnic Paper presentation contest, Guest lecture cum webinar programs in latest trending topics of Mechanical Engineering are being conducted. Industrial visits are being arranged relevant to the subjects concerned.
In addition to the academic works,all fabrication related works such as shed erection,welding for window grills, gate works,Boiler maintenance in hostel and plumbing works are carried out by Mechanical Engineering department staff members.
